On May 18-20, 2011 the ISE team took part in the 9th international scientific JTEFS/BBCC conference “Sustainable Development. Culture. Education” which was held in Siauliai University (Lithuania). The conference is an annual meeting place for members of Baltic and Black sea Circle Consortium in educational research and this year the subtopic of the conference was BBCC mission – reorientation of teacher education and research in education for sustainable development. The conference welcomed about sixty participants from such countries as Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Poland and Russia. ISE was represented by head of BBCC Ilga Salīte and Anita Pipere who gave keynote presentations at plenary sessions, head of the Institute Dzintra Iliško, researchers Rudīte Grabovska and Elga Drelinga, ISE translators and doctoral students Ginta Gedžūne and Inga Gedžūne who all presented results of their research at conference paper sessions. During the conference, the latest issues of Journal of Teacher Education for Sustainability and Discourse and Communication for Sustainable Education were officially presented and further development opportunities and directions of BBCC network were discussed.
Daugavpils University was also represented by the professor of the Faculty of Education and Management Elfrīda Krastiņa and several doctoral students of pedagogy: Olga Arhipova, Antra Balode, Ingrīda Bolgzda, Sregejs Čapulis, Nataļja van Gejeka, Liene Kvedere, Ieva Lazda, Līga Mateusa, Baiba Reinberga, Ojārs Rode, Ruta Silapētere, Eugeniusz Switala, Aļesja Šapkova, Jevgeņijs Ustinskovs, Skaidrīte Ūzuliņa, Sandra Zariņa. The 9th JTEFS/BBCC conference “Sustainable Development. Culture. Education” is to be hosted in Savonlinna (Finland), 2012.
