To celebrate the achievements of the United Nations Decade on Education for Sustainable and to promote the Global Action Program on ESD, the LatvianNational Commission for UNESCO in cooperation with the UNESCO Chair at the Daugavpils University and National Centre for Education is organizing aninternational conference “Bridging Education and Science for Sustainable Development”.
The conference aims to promote both philosophical and practical aspects of education for sustainable development by focusing on three thematic strands:
- Transforming the World into a Better Place through Higher Education and Research;
- Reorienting Pedagogical Practices to Build a Better Future for All;
- Accelerating Action for Sustainable Development.
The conference will gather education experts, researchers, university students, school leaders and teachers, representatives from NGOs and government institutions in Latvia and internationally to discuss progress to date and challenges that lie ahead with regard to education for sustainable development at all levels, and to forge new partnerships amongst higher education, research communities, schools and other institutions.
The conference is a significant venue for sharing good practice, gaining new insights and enchanching one’s experience and work in education. The conference will assemble experts in ESD, researchers, teachers, school leaders, students, representatives from NGOs and government institutions from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Belarus, Ukraine, the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Italy, Canada, Ireland, Poland, Germany, Bulgaria and Turkey.
We welcome every participant to be a listener or a presenter and submit proposals to present at the “Bridging Education and Science for Sustainable Development” conference. We welcome conference presenters from a diversity of backgrounds in universities, schools, non-governmental organizations and government institutions in Latvia and internationally.
